About

Dr. David Güemes received his bachelor's and master's degree in Chemical Engineering at ITESM. He obtained his D.Sc. in Engineering Management and Management of Technological Innovation from the George Washington University in Washington, DC. He worked at the Academy for Educational Development for over six years implementing and developing executive education management systems in Benin, Lesotho, Zambia, Uganda, the Philippines, and Malawi. He has designed support systems for decision-making in strategic education in Mexico, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Washington, DC, and several countries in Africa. He collaborated on more than ten projects of the World Bank, the IDB, and the ADB. In 2004, he joined ITESM Campus Monterrey, where he has specialized in Foresight planning for technological innovation. Since 2005, he has been an evaluator and technical advisor of the National Technology and Innovation Award. He is also an accredited evaluator for Conacyt -the National Science and Technology Council- projects. Currently belongs to level 1 of the National Research System. He has developed prospective planning systems for regional development studies, implemented in several Mexican states since the Strategic Technological Observatory launch in 2007.

In his consultancies and research projects, he has assisted large companies and SMEs, and government agencies in Mexico.  On the international side, Dr. Güemes has been invited by the European Union's Al-Invest program to provide training and advice in foresight planning to various companies and intermediary organizations in Mexico, Cuba, Costa Rica, Panama, Guatemala, Honduras, Colombia, Bolivia, Ecuador, Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay, Peru, Chile, El Salvador, Venezuela, UK, and Spain. He has coordinated projects to identify research opportunities by the Newton Fund, 2015, and internal projects in ITESM in conjunction with MIT, Nanyang TU, Purdue, etc.
